Reese Amorosi

Name: Reese Amorosi
Occupation: Writer, Kitchen Gardener, Recipe Developer, Cooking Coach, Photographer
Place of Residence: Philadelphia, PA
Background:
Reese Amorosi, also known as Glamorosi, grew up on stage and local TV in Philadelphia, PA and Atlantic City, NJ. She also grew up cooking and gardening: At age 5 she started growing edibles and cooking and baking from scratch with her Mother’s family from the Calabria region of Italy, and her Father from the American South. Both of her parents taught her about tea, tisanes and the art of serving afternoon tea. All of these influences shine in the food that Glamorosi Cooks.
The first business Reese ever owned was a roadside stand selling the organic produce she helped grow at a small family farm. In the 80s and 90s she sold homemade soups at produce stores and farmers markets. During this time she also worked in restaurant and club management developing bar programs and menus, and booking and producing entertainment and events.
Reese currently lives in South Philadelphia’s famed Italian Market area, a year-round destination for chefs, home cooks and food fans that frequent the produce stalls, ethnic grocery stores, specialty shops (cheese, pasta, seafood, spices, etc.), cafés, restaurants, and restaurant suppliers. Recipes developed by Reese often feature items from the Italian Market, plus ingredients sent to her by food purveyors, goodies from food conferences, gifts from friends and family, and the organic heirloom produce she grows in the Glamorosi Kitchen Garden and her community garden plot.
Along with her passion for cooking and gardening, Reese is known for her love of vintage clothing, furniture and housewares, including the tableware and linens seen in many of her recipe photos. Reese is an avid beachcomber obsessed with sea glass; she practices yoga; she loves music (especially The Beatles, David Bowie, and Queen), classic films (especially from the 1930s and silent era) and Doctor Who. Reese is married to entertainment and pop culture journalist A.D. Amorosi, and she is mom to a magnificent black greyhound named Django in honor of jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Current Projects:
Reese teaches garden-to-table cooking classes: topics include growing and cooking quince;a primer on pesto; exploring eggplant (vegetable korma lesson); sumptuous soups from scratch; and enjoying edible flowers.
In addition to developing recipes, Reese enjoys creating formulas for natural, botanical perfumes based on her favorite foods and the wonderful scents in her kitchen garden.
Reese is dedicated to helping pollinators. In her garden at home, she and her husband oversee the emergence of numerous butterfly species including Monarchs and several types of Swallowtails. In her area’s community garden where Reese is a member of the Governance Council, she is currently managing the installation of a butterfly garden.
