Root beer tea is less rich than a root beer float, but it's still full of the flavor that makes the dessert a favorite.
4-1 cups SERVINGS
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons sarsaparilla root
- 1 tablespoon sassafras bark or root bark
- 1 tablespoon chickory root
- 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon, ground or chipped
- 1 quart water
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart stockpot.
- Bring to a boil, keeping the pot covered. You’ll need to allow steam to escape occasionally, as the saponins in the sarsaparilla will create soap bubbles that will try to escape and make a mess.
- When the water boils, reduce the temperature to low and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, keeping the pot covered as much as possible.
- Remove from heat, strain, and serve.
